iboss Announces Industry’s First Dynamic Group-Based Microsoft Office 365 Tenant Restrictions

BOSTON, Mass., March 19, 2019 iboss today announced that it has extended the native Microsoft tenant restrictions available within Microsoft Office 365 suite with the ability to apply the restriction based on a user’s group membership or department. Microsoft Office 365 tenant restrictions are a feature offered by Microsoft to ensure users within an organization only access the applications within Office 365 associated with the organization. This feature is typically a global feature within network security products that is either enabled or disabled for an entire organization. This makes it difficult to bypass these restrictions for groups of individuals within the organization, such as contractors, that need access to Office 365 applications from another organization. The iboss cloud has enhanced this capability so that IT administrators can apply the tenant restrictions based on the user attempting to access Office 365. This ensures security and compliance while allowing the flexibility needed to perform day to day business activities.

Through 2022, at least 95% of cloud security failures are predicted to be the customer’s fault according to Gartner. This is due in part to the lack of granular security controls for devices accessing cloud applications.

The dynamic Office 365 tenant restrictions within iboss cloud will intelligently map a user based on the user’s Active Directory group or Organization Unit and apply the tenant restriction if it is enabled for that group. In addition, IT administrators can lock different groups of users to different tenant restrictions so that restrictions are still in place depending on the user needing access. In addition, the iboss cloud will automatically adapt Microsoft Office 365 traffic to ensure tenant restrictions are in place without having to create complex configuration or networking rules. Enabling Microsoft Office 365 tenant restrictions can be accomplished in seconds within the iboss cloud platform.

“The Microsoft Office 365 suite is powerful and a staple for agile high-performance organizations. Taking advantage of Microsoft Office 365 tenant restrictions with ease ensure compliance and security can be applied easily without burdening IT staff or users,” said Paul Martini, CEO and co-founder of iboss. “We continue to partner with Microsoft to create the innovations necessary for modern cloud-enabled businesses.”
